moving from New York to Los Angeles - Yummertime
Chris Lin and Brock of Yummertime moving from New York to Los Angeles YouTube vlog

moving from New York to Los Angeles

We made the final decision to move from New York at the end of December. At the end of January, we found an apartment, and in February, we signed our lease. And by March 2nd, we were officially on a plane, moving from New York to Los Angeles. All in the span of 24 hours after emptying our 1-bedroom Chelsea apartment.

It’s been a WILD few weeks.

In our latest video, we vlogged our way through a chaotic move, including an empty apartment tour, traveling with our cat (and a plant), and our first reactions to our new apartment in LA.

Seriously. The first time we ever stepped foot in our new Los Angeles apartment was captured in this video. When we were deciding on an apartment, we had our friend John take the in-person tour and FaceTime with us the entire way. Pinch us because we’re not even sure how our type A personalities allowed a move like this.

Moving from New York to Los Angeles or not, across the board we’ve been focusing our intentions on being more mindful. Mindful to trust our instincts and follow our hearts more. Mindful to climb our way out of our enabled depression from 2020 and wake up with a sense of drive and purpose every day.

All of that with a sprinkling of spending more quality time with the people we love. Meaning, a move back to California to be closer to our families just made sense.

We spent two (unforgettable) years in New York. Two (incredible) years in an apartment full of memories that amount to a lifetime. The rush of the past few weeks has left us feeling more emotionally, physically, and spiritually drained than we imagined we’d end up feeling leaving our one bedroom apartment in NYC.

And to be honest, the tears still keep coming. Though, they’re happy tears, now. Knowing just how much we grew in the span of 23 months on 23rd Street, in Chelsea, Manhattan.

We’ll miss the life we created in New York — picnics on the pier, long days and late nights on rooftops with our chosen family, impromptu dates at The Met, CitiBike rides to the East Village and Brooklyn, and access to pizza 24 hours a day.

Our second year in the city really showed us what it means to be New York Tough. And this is a strength that we hope to carry with us infinitely onward. And while we woke up for the first time in Los Angeles a week ago, our relationship with New York is far from over.

Love,
Chris + Brock

p.s. catch up on all of our videos this year. What happened to us and why we quit YouTube for a year. Our NYC home tour. And our (now infamous) amazing pizza recipe.
