HOW TO PLAN A LATE NIGHT DATE NIGHT OUT IN SAN FRANCISCO
Uber rider stories

Late Night, Date Night

Uber rider stories, LATE NIGHT, DATE NIGHT

Otherwise known as, taking an Uber to get late night pizza 😛

In partnership with our friends at Uber.

Dare we say, no date night is ever complete without a slice of pepperoni and cheese. Simple, yet refined, and the perfect way to say, “I love you.” Who needs anything else when you have the two loves of your life right by your side (one of them a little cheesier than the other). Not a question. That’s called romance 😉

Pizza or not, though, the premise of this post is all about a late night, date night. Which altogether sounds so exciting, sure!

But, we’re 27 years old (crippled in our old age) now and the thought of staying out past 10pm on a weeknight TERRIFIES us. It’s not like we can’t — don’t count us down for the count just yet — BUT, a persistent, nagging question looms over us like a terrifying Babadook: will we get enough sleep tonight?! WILL WE?!

Enter: Uber’s Shared ETA + Trip Status, saving our poor, anxious minds from a lack of foresight.

And now, a story: the night started out with Chris (separately) coming from downtown, back up to Duboce Triangle, to pick up Brock for dinner. How cute! But, love him to death, navigating travel has never been Chris’ forté, LOL. Neither is math, but that’s another story 😛

Couple that with the fact that traffic’s always iffy at any point of the day in San Francisco, and you have a recipe for a disaster, with Chris at the helm. A disaster, you’d think, except for one saving grace: Chris continuously shared his ETA, throughout the trip. No delays, no miscommunication. He’d arrive in his uberX at 7:43pm.

The plan, from there, was to head off to dinner and drinks together, meeting up with a few friends (including one of our besties, Kendall Chase, who shot a few of these photos) after that for a nightcap at one of our favorite bars.

As is the case when it comes to “us” and “food,” though, dinner went longer than expected. Immediately realizing the time (it was 9:43pm), we ordered our second uberX for the night and instantly shared our ETA + trip status with our friends, who were already waiting at the bar. The trip would take no more than 7 minutes, and WHAT A GODSEND THAT WAS TO KNOW.

Anxiety, goodbye!

After a drink or (two or three…) at the bar, we knew our next plan of attack: we’d meet up with our good ol’ friend, pizza. Everyone else was heading out for the night, probably off to sleep, but, we were already out WELL PAST our bedtime, and we hadn’t visited our friend, pizza, in a long, long time (which is a lie; it’d only been a few days). As soon as the pizza was in our hands, our third uberX arrived. Thank you, technology.

With a five minute car ride later, we were back home, pizza in-hand, before 10:30pm 🙂

We guess we didn’t stay out that late after all 😉
