SHOCKER OUR NEW FAVORITE NAPA DESTINATION IS A WINERY

Our New (Favorite) Napa Escape

Volvo XC60Made even more perfect with our new (favorite) getaway car 😉

For once in our life, we did the opposite of procrastinating. APPLAUSE, PLEASE.

Last month we got a head start on one of our New Year’s Resolutions — Resolution #432: prioritize day trips outside of the city. We set out for that to happen “once a month,” but considering how much of a mess our life is at any given moment, we’re being reasonable and not expecting too much 😛

We have, though, set aside a TON of time for those mini-moments our relationship needs 😉

BUT, WE DID IT. We drove up to Napa for less than 12 hours in our Volvo XC60, spending the majority of the day exploring our new favorite winery: Ashes & Diamonds. We packed a few snacks and two lunches, Brock drove (as the designated driver), and Chris was the car DJ and  taste tester for the winery that we’d eventually join. Life is (relationships are) about balance!

Mixing Palm Springs modernism with the setting of Napa Valley and designed by Barbara Bestor, the winery made for the perfect getaway, even if for just a few hours.

An amazing winery or not, we really just spent the entire time gabbing to each other, about everything and anything — you should see us when we talk endlessly 😉 — and so the location couldn’t matter any less, even though it was beautiful.

On the topic of gabbing, though — with a car ride up to Napa that lasted a little less than two hours, we had enough time to gab in our Volvo XC60 in the same way we use our bed for pillow talk. And that location mattered. There really is something special about the intimacy and comfort afforded to being in a car or in a bed, where no one but you can hear what’s said on the inside or under the covers.

It also doesn’t hurt to have pillow talk in the most comfortable leather car seats we’ve ever experienced 😛 BUT, ooooooh, the secrets that were spilled.

KIDDING. We don’t have any interesting secrets. We’re as boring as they come 😉

What we really mean to say, though, is how helpful a car trip, like the one we took in the XC60, could be to a healthy lifestyle, mind, and even relationship. A little catch-up session. Pillow talk. Whatever we want to call it.

Our resolution to take day trips out of the city ended up being a healthier resolution than we initially imagined, and so January’s looking to be a better start to the year than we thought it would be — so… we can throw out Resolution #431 now — eat healthier. Our minds our healthy enough for our entire bodies 😛

More road trips please!
