OUR GUERNEVILLE CITY GUIDE FEATURING FARMHOUSE INN

Where to Stay in Guerneville, Farmhouse Inn

Consider this our Declaration of Hotel Dependence: if you’re visiting Sonoma County or Guerneville, stay at Farmhouse Inn (in Forestville).

Wait. That’s not even enough.

Stay just for the FREE S’MORES.

Where celebrities vacation in the same bungalows at Chateau Marmont year after year, we’d like to think Farmhouse Inn is our celebrity retreat — only, we’re only celebrities in the eyes of our cat, Thomas. He loves us.

The 411 on Farmhouse Inn: Each room is set up like a suite, many with vaulted ceilings and all.  The hotel restaurant has a Michelin star. And every night, you’re free to make as many s’mores as you want, sitting beside their two fire pits. NOT TO MENTION, they have a bath soap and salts bar, where you’re free to sample whatever you’d like. WHAT LUXURY (we secretly took some to-go, shhhh).

Here are our top picks on WHAT TO DO AROUND FARMHOUSE INN (a.k.a. GUERNEVILLE):

Food
Boon Eat+Drink: ORDER THE MAC-N-CHEESE. Mind you, the menu changes seasonally; we went in Summer and had the best polenta lasagna we’d ever had (which is also the first and only polenta lasagna we’ve ever had… how does one make a polenta lasagna, we wonder?!).

Dick Bloomster’s Korean BBQ: whatever you do, order the KFC (Korean Fried Crack).

The Guerneville Taco Truck: dare we say, this might’ve become one of our favorite California taco experiences ever. ALSO, order the Mexican Hot Dog. It won’t disappoint.

Drink
El Barrio: very hip, very trendy, and right next door to Rainbow Cattle Co. which is the COMPLETE opposite in terms of ambience. Get the Queso Fundido, but with chips and not tortillas, and order a La Patrona to drink. Aperol + Tequila = WHO KNEW THIS WAS A THING?!

Rainbow Cattle Co.: the perfect dive for the perfect night in Guerneville. Seriously. Don’t expect much, just live it up with way too many drinks.

Activities
Day trip to Calistoga: First stop, Gott’s Roadside (order everything. Just do it). Second stop, V. Sattui. Next stop, Mumm Napa. Last stop, a massage at Indian Springs and a dip in their pools (THE LUXURY. THE LIFE).

Day trip to Sonoma: First stop, The Fremont Diner for brunch (order the nachos. Order the chicken and waffles. Order the caramel cake). Last stop, Scribe Winery.

Goat Rock + Russian River floating: head west to Goat Rock for a hike/ walk along the beach, take selfies, love your life, then head back to Johnson’s Beach, Guerneville, and FLOAT.
