WE TRIED LIVING PROOF FOR TWO WEEKS: THE REVIEW

Brock and Chris, of Yummertime, talk men's grooming

Anyone with less-than-average patience — a virtue our hangry souls will never master… we also lack the patience for yoga OR waiting in line at Chipotle, so there’s that… — can understand that searching for the right grooming products is more a chore than any sort of retail therapy.

Honestly, how are you supposed to find the right product for yourself when you’re most drawn to the prettiest packaging?! What if it’s NOT GOOD?! These are the kinds of nightmares we have at night.

So here’s the 411: Living Proof reached out to us, asked if we’d partner up with them and review some of their products. We knew that they’re co-owned by Jennifer Aniston, so we were all like, “can we please meet Jennifer Aniston?” except we were too scared to ask, and so we were all like,

Okay, let’s do it, let’s partner up and see what Living Proof is all about. We’ll be honest. Brutally honest (but, we still want to meet Jennifer Aniston…).

We each used Living Proof’s quick and easy product selector tool to figure out which product direction we’d go in, and decided we’d try each them out, consistently, over the course of two weeks.

Here’s how it all panned out, with our reviews below:

Brock and Chris, of Yummertime, try Living Proof

I don’t like to wash my hair everyday. I wash it MAYBE two times a week max (probably why I go through more dry shampoo than I care to admit…). I’m all about using my natural oils as ‘product,’ but that doesn’t mean I’m not up for trying something new / hoarding grooming products.

The PhD set lent itself to my hair-washing schedule easily, and I noticed that my hair seemed to stay cleaner longer without ever feeling “stripped” of essential oils.

I used the Instant Texture Mist on the days that I washed my hair, for a more tousled look, and, on the other days when I didn’t wash my hair, I used the PhD Dry Shampoo, resulting in super dramatic volume — for those days when I want more comments about my hair  😉

Chris, of Yummertime, hair

For Chris, with thick but short hair needing structure, we landed on Living Proof’s PhD Shampoo + Conditioner and Amp Instant Texture Volumizer.

I put product in my hair daily AND I tend to sweat A LOT when I work out, so I shampoo and condition WAY more often than Brock ever does. Smell his hair. What I’ve noticed, though, that’s different about the PhD set is it’s effects on the coarseness of my hair — my hair’s just as thick as before, but not brittle. You know how short hair gets brittle easily, almost pokey? NOT FOR ME.

I really loved Amp, too, and found that it held my hair pretty securely — a huge factor to me in searching for the right styling product. It’s not as strong in hold as, say, a paste, and so I’d say it’s ideal for those days when “relaxed” is the goal.

In partnership with Living Proof.
